Chapter 06: Adverse Fruitive Activities
The power of the illusory energy is such that the embodied soul finds some kind of satisfaction even in the most desperate situations and has no desire to leave. When Indra was cursed to become a pig, he was terrified at first, but after some time he became attached to his swine form and didn't want to leave. Even someone who has to work hard all day just to eat experiences a sense of relief in finally sleeping at night. This is not true enjoyment but merely the absence of suffering; yet, a conditioned soul can still become easily attached even to that. Even when we start on the path of devotional service, we can easily be distracted by any available opportunities for material sense gratification and lose the desire to leave this material world, deciding instead to play a little more with the material energy.
Lord Kapila makes a point by revealing the true nature of this temporary world and what remaining here entails.
