Very instructive article. Lord Caitanya also makes this point of jiva bring eternal servant of Kṛṣṇa in shiksastakam verse 5.
"Ayi nanda tanuja kinkaram patitam mam"
He specifically says that we were servants of Kṛṣṇa and then fell down.
And regarding beginning of jiva's material
Existence Parikshit Maharaja asks in 2.8.7 n Sukadeva Goswami answers in 2.9.1 as existence being a dream. In this purport also Śrīla Prabhupāda explains very nicely the whole matter. Don't know how it's too much debated thing, simple for the simple, difficult for the crooked. Jai Srila Prabhupada.

Beautiful, great service!
Hare Kṛṣṇa prabhuji, Jai Śrīla Prabhupāda.
