After compiling all the Vedas, including the Bhagavata Purana, the Mahabharata, and the Vedanta Sutra, Vyasadeva was feeling dissatisfied. Then Narada Muni appeared to reveal why.
“Suta Goswami was also present at the assembly, and he later narrated the Srimad Bhagavatam to the sages in Naimisharanya, also adding his contribution, in the form of the first and last cantos, as well as a few supplementary explanations along the text.”
Regarding this portion, Śrīla Prabhupāda says in second canto that both Vyasadeva and Sukadeva Goswami spoke 1st canto to their respective audience.
“Śrīla Vyāsadeva explained Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam unto Śukadeva Gosvāmī from the very beginning of the janmādy asya verse, and so Śukadeva Gosvāmī also explained it to the King.”
The first three verses of the Bhagavatam are spoken by Vyasadeva himself, then there is the part where Suta Goswami starts, and later Sukadeva Goswami speaks.
