Hare Krishna Prabhu,

Thank you for your insightful article.

I do have a question if you have time, regarding the many statements in Shastra such as this one that depicts women as very sexually lusty. These statements are quite puzzling as in most cases in our day to day lives we can see that men are way more sexually lusty and easily agitated.

Yes women when they are ovulating (so around 1 week per month) are more easily agitated than they usually are, but even then it doesn't seem to be anywhere near how easily agitated men get.

Women often crave love, affection/attention & nice things, and if they are not mode of goodness may use their sexuality to get what they want in degraded ways, but still, generally the depiction of lusty women seem doesn't seem accurate when compared to lusty men, especially when you look at sexual abuse statistics.

I guess I wonder why there is not such language talking and warning about men's lustiness when that seems to be way more the reality.

Thank you.

When the scriptures mention lust, it means material desires in general, not just sexual drive. Women are considered more "lusty" because they have a stronger drive to enjoy their senses in general, including foods, comforts, etc. while men are more centered in sex.

Another point is that men in other eras used to be more controlled. Now we are very degraded.

I'm not in favor of brahmacarya for persons who don't have a natural tendency for it. No point in forcing it. My obeisances
