Much is spoken about improving the quality of our japa, but that's easier said than done. Despite all good advice, it's not always easy to chant all our rounds without distraction.
Yes, there are these two sides. The main point is that we should not replace our main chanting with not-so-attentive chanting while doing other things just to increase the number of rounds.
However, if we can maintain what we are doing now and just add more rounds, then it is desirable. Prabhupada himself was giving this example: he would chant his rounds in the early morning, and from there chant many more rounds during the day while doing morning walks, etc.
