Just like one who is hungry will have difficulty concentrating on work, someone who has the necessity for a relationship but can’t find a suitable partner will have difficulties on spiritual practice.
Haribol! I humbly ask, what are the real motivations to find a wife or husband? Should it be to have kids? To be able to control sexual desires? To have someone to share the life? If it’s the third reason it’s not better to get involved in Krishna Consciousness and devotees? I ask humbly because I really don’t know. Is it possible to leave these desires and rather men or women become celibate? Or even surrender their needs as an offer for the lord? Just asking because I always get confused about it and what’s really better for the devotees. I see many people is better single but marry because of missing care and attention. Will they really be happy if this is the case? I really want you forgive me if I said something wrong but these are some things I really don’t understand
I see that it is generally better for devotees to be in harmonious marital relationships, this is a better base for practicing than being alone and struggling with desires. The problems in that is not always possible, then one just does whatever is needed.
About having children or not, etc. What I learned is that the main priority should be to maintain a good relationship, without trying to follow a particular formula or stereotype. Nowadays that's already a great victory.
The priority should be to become absorbed in spiritual life and try not to think too much about it. If one becomes desperate to get a wife or husband, it triggers patters of behavior that are counterproductive. If we are grounded, taking care of our spiritual practice, engaged and happy, the right person usually appears.
